KEEP OF THE RUBY BARON

The Ruby Baron owns these lands. The charred fields and ashen trees proclaim his title as clearly as any deed. Something is always burning; the smoke, thick as fog, chokes the throat to a whisper and dyes the sun a searing red in the sky. Disinterested storm clouds pass by overhead, saving their water for the black keep where the Baron has made his home. It is said he owns the rain, too. A man of such wealth must surely have something worth stealing.

The Ruby Baron is a nightmarish landlord who imposes debt simply by breathing. His refined tastes have grown beyond the simplistic call of gold and silver, as the treasure-hunters will discover the further they descend into the Keep. His tenants (who he mockingly refers to as his Royal Court) live in horrid conditions, forced to give bigger and bigger pieces of themselves to the Baron to fulfill their tithes. He is forever hungry for the most exotic of treasures, and if the treasure-hunters prove themselves to have a career-oriented mindset, he may just have a job or two for them by the end. This incursion includes:
